Melanoma March

Story

On Sunday the 2nd of April I will be participating in Melanoma March alongside my family and friends MARCHING FOR A CURE. Melanoma March brings people together to raise awareness and funds for melanoma research. In recent years, research breakthroughs have tripled the life expectancy for advanced melanoma patients. Melanoma research is making rapid progress but they need your support to help find a cure!

A week before Christmas i was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma. So this is a cause very close to home. I routinely had professional skin checks and one particular mole that turned out to be cancerous, had been checked 11 months prior with no concerns raised. I have had a wide local excision to my central back to remove the primary cancer and surrounding skin and a bilateral axillary clearance as the cancer had spread to numerous lymph nodes in both axillas. I still have an unquestionable road ahead of me but I am going to use my diagnosis as an opportunity to raise funds, spread the word and potentially prevent someone else from having to experience what i have to.

I am asking you to please donate to my GoFundraise page and Go MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Every little bit helps to reach my target of $10,000.

Donations are sent directly to Melanoma Institute Australia.

If you are unable to donate I hope i can at least prompt you to be vigilant with your skin, get regular checks and monitor your freckles and moles.

Melanoma kills more young Australians (20-39 year olds) than any other single cancer, but if detected early it has a high survival rate.

Please dig deep for this great cause and help change the future of thousands of Australians diagnosed withmelanoma each year. Click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a receipt via email as soon as you make a donation.Thank you so much for your support!
