Melanoma March - General

  • What is Melanoma March?+-
    • Melanoma March is your chance to help end melanoma. Melanoma March is Melanoma Institute Australia’s (MIA) annual awareness and fundraising initiative that funds life-changing melanoma research. In 2017, you can attend one of 17 Melanoma March events near you, or ‘Move for Melanoma’ by organising your own group activity or personal challenge.

  • Who owns Melanoma March? +-
    • Melanoma March is an initiative of MIA. We are extremely grateful for the relationships we have with a number of other melanoma organisations around Australia who assist MIA to stage our Marches in various states including the Australian Melanoma Research Foundation in South Australia, melanomaWA in Western Australia, and the Skin & Cancer Foundation in Victoria.

  • What is the purpose of Melanoma March? +-
    • Melanoma March was started to Remember those lost to melanoma; Support our dedicated researchers; and Inspire all Australians to help end melanoma.

  • How much has been raised over the years? +-
    • Melanoma March has raised over $2.4m for melanoma research since its inception in 2012.

  • How will my funds be used? +-
    • Each year, MIA chooses research projects of national significance to fund through Melanoma March. In recent years, research breakthroughs have tripled the life expectancy for advanced melanoma patients, and while we are making progress, more still needs to be done. Research is critical to helping find treatments for people with melanoma, and hopefully one day, a cure. Learn more about recent research supported by Melanoma March.

  • When are Melamoma March events held? +-
  • Do I have to ‘Move for Melanoma’ during March? +-
    • Move for Melanoma is a new way to support Melanoma March by creating your own activity, event or personal challenge. Move for Melanoma events and activities can happen wherever and whenever you like during the campaign (ie, between October 2016 and April 2017).

  • Is Melanoma March the same as Move for Melanoma? +-
    • Melanoma March is a fun community event where participants can walk or march along a short course to raise awareness and funds for important research. If you can’t participate in a Melanoma March near you, then you can Move for Melanoma and get active to support melanoma, in whatever way suits you. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination! Either way, by getting active you are helping raise vital funds to end melanoma.
